Orchard Jewellery: Privacy Policy

Introduction

Privacy and security of your data are super important to me (I even went as far as getting a Master’s degree in Cyber Security, just for fun 👩🏻‍💻🤓🔒). This policy outlines what data is collected, and why, but in summary, I do not collect any information other than what is necessary (e.g. to remember what’s in your basket and to make sure you get your lovely products) or explicitly consented to (e.g. if you sign up to my newsletter). 

Types of personal information collected and why

  • In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) your data will only be processed with a legal basis, i.e. because of a legitimate interest, or with your consent where appropriate. Specifically:
    • Customers purchasing, or enquiring about purchasing goods from Orchard Jewellery: Name, address, email address, telephone number.
    • Customers who have subscribed to the mailing list: Name, Email address. 
    • All visitors to the website: Essential cookies which allow the website to work properly and as you would expect. Additional, non-essential cookies will only be enabled with your consent.
  • Orchard Jewellery does not directly process payments and will never record your payment data. The only exception to this is where payment via BACS/Swift has been agreed. This information will not be retained by Orchard Jewellery for more than 28 days after payment processing.
  • Your data will not be shared with other organisations or individuals other than those essential for completing our obligations to you as a retailer.

How we store your personal information 

All information provided directly to Orchard Jewellery is securely stored and backed up in a password protected database.  

Personal information associated with purchases will be deleted after 2 years post-purchase.

You have the right to withdraw consent to contact you via the mailing list or for marketing purposes at any point. 

Your data protection rights

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

Your right of access – You have the right to ask Orchard Jewellery for copies of your personal information. 

Your right to rectification – You have the right to ask Orchard Jewellery to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask Orchard Jewellery to complete information you think is incomplete. 

Your right to erasure – You have the right to ask Orchard Jewellery to erase your personal information in certain circumstances. 

Your right to restriction of processing – You have the right to ask Orchard Jewellery to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances. 

Your right to object to processing – You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to data portability – You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave Orchard Jewellery to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
